3D Scanning Technician/Surveyor

ACSACS is seeking a 3D Scanning Technician/Surveyor interested in a rewarding career in a fast-paced, team environment. The individual will support the BIM manager and the processes for the company. This is a new role in ACS with the opportunity to shape how our international integrated project delivery company uses this technology to deliver complex facility and equipment solutions. 

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:   

  • Establish and implement 3D scanning procedures and standards.
  • Manage the collection of on-site data using conventional survey methods combined with three dimensional scanning technologies.
  • Provide and maintain field notes during scanning site surveys.
  • Field verify insulated pipe and duct sizes
  • Use FARO 3D laser scanner and FARO Scene data collection software.
  • Use, update and maintain FARO WebShare Web Application for AE consultants, Clients and internal ACS team members
  • Maintain Scan equipment and software to ensure readiness to perform when needed.
  • Familiarity with survey tools, i.e. total stations and builders levels, backsight setups, etc.
  • Perform the following survey functions when required:
    • Closed traverse – ability to perform repetition based traverse in a construction or industrial environment.
    • Differential bench run – Differential elevation loop and ability to document properly.
    • Familiarity with Construction layout using Robotic Total Station.
    • Calculating survey points based from provided geometry.
    • Ability to learn crossover methodology between scanning and surveying
  • Understanding construction and industrial layout with data collection
  • Understanding of engineering needs onsite and knowledge of project documents.
  • Work closely and communicate regularly in a professional manner with a variety of personnel

Qualified candidates will possess: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or construction-related field.
  • A WI Surveyor’s License or the ability to obtain in 6 months or less
  • Experience using 3D scanning equipment and applications.
  • Experience using Robotic Total Station equipment and applications.
  • Experience with 3D scanning technology, applications and industry processes.
  • Experience using Robotic Total Station for Construction Layout, BIM software platforms, and/or VDC or BIM using Revit and Navisworks.
  • Must be motivated to take initiative, respond to issues, constraints, and opportunities.
    •     Detail-orientation without losing sight of the big picture.
    •     Excellent technical computer skills - using the internet, file sharing, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications are required.
    •     Creative thinker with ability to work in a small team environment.
  • Local, regional, and national travel to customer job sites will be required approximately 20% of the time. This position will offer an estimated 40% office / 60% field split.
  • Availability to work overtime, evenings and weekends, as needed.

ScanWorks Field Superintendent

 BASIC FUNCTION 

Supervise all field operations for Scanworks and all field crews. Responsible for providing 3D data collection and survey on-site for interpretation by office personnel.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Establish and implement procedures and standards that manage the flow of in information between field and office personnel.
    • Supervise proper workflow and behavior of ScanWorks field personnel while on-site.

    • Calculating survey points based from provided geometry.

  • General requirements
    • Possession of state issued current drivers license.
    • Ability to clear extensive background check.

    • Lifting of fifty pounds or more required on occasion in conjunction with occasional, bending, stooping and crawling.
    • Ensure that applicant can pass drug screening on request
       
  • Provide and maintain field notes
  • Maintain all field equipment and ensure readiness for equipment to perform when needed.
  •  Travel will be required.

    • Off-site meetings
    • Crew supervision
     
  • Perform additional duties/assignments related to project as required by management. 
  • Availability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Completed high school or possess GED. 
  • Minimum 5 years of party chief  experience in construction and or an industrial setting.
  • Minimum of 4 years of scanning experience with Leica products such as HDS3000, HDS6100, Cyclone and Cloudworx
  • Fair communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills required

  • 4-year college degree, and/or Diploma in GIS, Remote Sensing, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of surveying and mapping, including photogrammetry.
