About Us

Founded in 2003, SPAR Point Group investigates and reports on 3D scanning, imaging and position capture technologies used to improve the productivity, quality, safety and risk profile of engineering, fabrication, construction and manufacturing operations. The company was purchased by Diversified Communications in late 2009 and is now looking to rapidly expand news and research operations. Further, the company has added the SPAR Europe conference to complement its long-standing SPAR International conference and SPAR Japan conference.

Our research and quantitative analysis supports engineering, manufacturing and construction managers in analyzing and making the business case for investing in new technologies. Our industry connections and in-depth reports help practitioners evaluate, qualify and select solutions and providers based on technology leadership, R&D commitment, financial strength and management strength. Our methodology is grounded in researching and documenting practitioner cases—both successes and failures—to identify industry best-practices for creating business value. Our deliverables -- publications, industry conferences and custom consulting help practitioners maximize the business impact of technology.

Conferences

The company's annual SPAR conferences in the United States, Japan, and Europe attract project managers, engineering and technical leads, industrial metrologists, surveyors, security practitioners, technologists, and many more. The events showcase 3D laser scanning, dynamic survey/LiDAR, new data capture and processing technologies used for 3D surveying and dimensional control for work on offshore platforms, nuclear power plant modifications, refinery revamps, discrete and process manufacturing, transportation, building and civil infrastructure projects, historic preservation as well as forensic investigations and security planning.

Consulting Services

We serve project leaders, program managers and discipline leads from discrete and process manufacturing, civil and transportation infrastructure, nuclear and fossil power generation, mining and geotechnical, forensic and security planning, and the hardware, software and service providers that support them. Solutions providers seek our custom consulting services to refine and validate product positioning, and to identify, quantify and qualify new market opportunities. We conduct market sector analysis, report on industry best-practices, write compelling, easy-to-understand white papers and research specific market segments.
